More Audio About Schopenhauer

January 1, 2011 by Mark Linsenmayer 1 Comment

If you're liking having Schopenhauer-related audio to listen to so you needn't actually read him, here's a clip with some introduction or other to the World as Will and Representation, which describes his place in the history of philosophy and states some high level points about his philosophy, and quite a bit more about his biography.

It's nothing you couldn't get just as well off of Wikipedia, but again, if you like having things to listen to, here's another:

Listen on youtube.

And here's part two: Listen on youtube.

By parts three and four, we get quite a bit more of Schopenhauer's actual ideas, including the link between his account of the Will and his pessimism.

I realize this post on Schopenhauer audio is quite old but all the links are broken. I’m interested in it specifically because it was PEL recommended content. Is the linked audio content still available somewhere, or can someone point me to what was linked and I could research on my own? Thanks for any assistance!

About The Partially Examined Life

The Partially Examined Life is a philosophy podcast by some guys who were at one point set on doing philosophy for a living but then thought better of it. Each episode, we pick a text and chat about it with some balance between insight and flippancy. You don’t have to know any philosophy, or even to have read the text we’re talking about to (mostly) follow and (hopefully) enjoy the discussion
