Eventually, I'll run out of songs to put at the end of episodes, so I'm trying to write some fresh tunes while actually reading the work in question. For ep. 77, I wrote this song that at least has the same title as the book we read.
My initial plan was to just record all the parts myself on this, so I laid down acoustic guitar, voice, and cajon, but I ended up drawing on some quick-recording remote helpers who did some great stuff without my direct supervision that I was able to patch together. These included Eric Schumann on keyboards (who's now joined my band New People), PEL listeners Shawn Saul on bass and John Jughead Pierson on electric guitar, and Shawn's bandmate Brett Segal on drums. So thanks very much for all of them for taking the time to record and send me a part!
I really liked this method and hereby extend an invitation to all recording-enabled musicians who listen to PEL to contact me and tell me about what you do and how you're set up as far as recording goes (and feel free to send me a link to a song you play on). I'm not just interested in guitar, drums, bass, and keys, but also singing, violin, trumpet, vibes, hurdy gurdy, theramin, or whatever you've got. Just due to the nature of this project, even if you're an excellent player, that will likely not help unless you have a decent sound card and multi-track recording program.
Hope you like the song.
