If you don’t know what this Citizen Site is, please read about it.
Folks have been unsure what to expect if they sign up for membership, and sometimes new members aren’t quite sure what to do first. As I just got a Mac with easy screencapture capabilities, I’ve created this little tour to address one or both issues: Hopefully this will both given non-Citizens a flavor of what to expect and new Citizens a bit more confidence to poke around.
You may want to watch this directly on YouTube so you can enlarge the screen.
To summarize, once you log in, you can:
1. Download a bunch of audio files.
2. Jump into the “Citizens’ Forum,” which is the default discussion group, to introduce yourself, share your interests, and propose (and respond to proposals re.) more specific reading groups.
3. Look at the list of reading groups. Open them up to look at the activity in the archived ones, and join any new ones that sound appealing.
4. Use the Facebook-like member record to put up information about yourself, communicate via internal email, and connect with your fellow PEL fans and us podcasters.
I expect as the flaws in my presentation here become apparent and/or we install more features on the site, I’ll update this with some regularity.
Just FYI, the intro group that Hilary is running that I point out toward the end of the video will be covering Wittgenstein’s Tractatus in July. Go check out our episodes on that and join her!
