Sunday afternoon we recorded the aftershow for on our episode 114 covering Schopenhauer’s The World as Will and Representation
(sometimes called The World as Will and Idea).
Host Danny Lobell (whom you can hear ad nauseam on his own podcast, Modern Day Philosophers with such guests as Gilbert Godfried, Marc Maron, Louis Black, Aisha Tyler, Wyatt Cenac, etc. etc.) joined me along with listener-population representative Terra Leigh Bell for a far-ranging discussion about the Kantian structures to which Schopenhauer was responding, the implications of various views of identity to Schopenhauer’s concept of our own experience of our individual will, and various other topics like poetry, language and knitting. Danny balanced Seth’s somber and didactic attempts to summarize various philosophical points with his trademarked brand of irreverent humor. …This despite recovering from a car crash a couple of days before. (Gute Verbesserung Danny!)
Go to the Free Stuff for Citizens page (click “Not School and Aftershow Discussions”) to listen the recording. Yes, that means you’ll have to become a Citizen, which is cheap and easy, and if you like the podcast enough to want to listen to an episode Aftershow, an obvious move.
