After our technical debacle last time that resulted in us having only one Citizen listener attending, this time Danny Lobell and I had a packed house to reflect on episode 115 on Schopenhauer and music. Jonathan Segel was good enough to rejoin us to show off his infant daughter and rail about Beethoven. Previous guest Dave Buchanan brought Pythagoras into the picture, and overall the discussion tilted eventually toward fundamental cosmological issues surrounding the One (in this case the Will) and the Many (in this case the phenomenal world) and how bringing art appreciation into the picture doesn’t really help to make this relation any clearer. Other attendees included Todd Costa, David Prentiss, Kevin Middleton, Kevin Peffley, Anthony Durity, and Sebastian Roll, with a few other folks dropping in and out silently.
Citizens can get this bonus recording (edited a bit to be more listenable from the raw video above) here. Not a Citizen yet? Sign up!
The next Aftershow, on ep. 116 covering Freud’s On Dreams, will be Sunday June 7 at 3pm Eastern Time. Danny will be joined by Wes. Go join the group to indicate that you’ll be there.
Google Hangout allows only 10 users actually on the call at a time, and we had at least a couple folks that couldn’t get in this time. I’ve provided some directions on the group re. how to make sure you can get on, and we’ll revisit this issue each time to see if it’s a recurrent problem. It’s sure better to be in this situation than to have no one showing up!
