Hey, folks! Nathan Hanks here, with what's happening in the Partially Examined Life's Citizens' Forum and Not School this January. Members are starting new group proposals and you can join in the discussion this new year. You may be interested in one of these discussions:
- Introduction to Analytic Philosophy
- Hegel's Science of Logic
- Homo Sacer by Giorgio Agamben (Ch. 4–8)
- Contingency, Hegemony, and Universality by Laclau, Zizek, Butler (Ch. 5)
- French Theory by Francois Cusset
- Consciousness Explained by Daniel Dennett
If any of these sound interesting, jump into The Forum, say hello, and join other PEL members for the read. Once there are enough people on board for the proposal, you'll have your own Not School Group. Most groups are between 2–4 people and calls are usually set up over Skype or Hangouts for a conversation, or you can just chat in your Not School Group's forum about whatever is of interest.
Also, members can post Forum Topics. If you want an ongoing low-commitment approach to discussion, then a quick topic in the Citizen's Forum is the way to go. "Can a trash compactor want something?'
If you want to become a PEL member, just sign up. It's quick and easy plus you get a lot of perks: there's Bonus Audio on a private Citizens' Feed, full ad-free episodes (past and present), access to the excellent member community and Not School, PLUS you'll be supporting the good people who make this podcast.
I'd like to hear from you if you ideas, questions, or suggestions for Not School; feel free to email me:

Happy Reading!
Nathan
