NEM#12 Bonus: More Conversation and Tunes with John Philip Shenale

April 12, 2016 by Mark Linsenmayer 2 Comments

The Partially Examined Life (Citizens): (Protected Content)

Following up to the Nakedly Examined Music interview, Mark talks more with Phil about the state of the music industry, playing live, how many pieces to use in a string arrangement, and more.

Featuring bonus songs: The #1 1989 single "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles from their album Everything, which Phil did the keyboards and string arrangement for; then "Shattering Sea" from Tori Amos's 2011 album Night Of Hunters, and finally at the end "Love Surrounds Me" by Beach Boy Dennis Wilson, recorded around 1978 and available via the extended edition of Dennis's Pacific Ocean Blue album.

About The Partially Examined Life

The Partially Examined Life is a philosophy podcast by some guys who were at one point set on doing philosophy for a living but then thought better of it. Each episode, we pick a text and chat about it with some balance between insight and flippancy. You don’t have to know any philosophy, or even to have read the text we’re talking about to (mostly) follow and (hopefully) enjoy the discussion
