Stoicism has seen a resurgence of late—not just as an area of academic interest but as a practical philosophy for living one’s life. To that end, the CUNY Department of Philosophy and K.D. Irani Fund for philosophy are sponsoring STOICON 2016, to be held on October 15. Speakers include Massimo Pigliucci, who is doing a lot of thinking and writing about stoicism and was kind enough to come on PEL to discuss Seneca. Other speakers include stoicism scholar Lawrence Becker, writer Ryan Holiday, and philosopher Julia Annas.
I’ll be there, and I’m recommending that you be there as well.
