As the end of Game of Thrones drifts from our collective memory and we get into discussing another kings-and-intrigue story, Calderón’s Life Is a Dream, and as our real-life political situation asks us seriously if the end justifies the means (Should Republicans support a President who they despise personally because it accomplishes more of their political goals than opposing them? Is a president justified in blocking all attempts to investigate him, given that the investigators are his political enemies? Should Democratic voters focus on who is most electable or who promises to achieve real change?), it’s time we looked back on our episode 14 on Niccolò Machiavelli. I reviewed that episode and recorded a little essay about practicing Machiavellian politics to get you back in this spirit.
This was my third pilot in a potential spin-off podcast that is not going to go forward. Different spin-off ideas are still being tossed around, so stay tuned.
