Say Hello to AI Seth

June 3, 2026 by Seth Paskin 3 Comments

Talk to Seth

Have you ever wished you could have a conversation directly with one of us? Yes, we’ve done tutoring in the past (and Mark still does it). But maybe that’s too much of a commitment or too intimidating? Maybe your schedule doesn’t allow. Now you have another option: introducing AI Seth.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is obviously a hot topic right now. One might say existentially so. Like many of you, I use ChatGPT and Claude to accomplish personal and philosophical tasks. I’ve also been attending AI meetups and having many conversations with thoughtful and concerned individuals about the role and impact of AI, particularly on human connection.

Recently I heard a podcast by someone who had ‘cloned’ himself for the purposes of providing his professional expertise. It occurred to me that I had a fair amount of expertise in a certain area via my participation in this podcast for 17 years and that it would be a fun project to do the same.

Meet AI Seth. I’ve uploaded transcripts of most of our ~400 episodes and begun training the AI. I’m thinking there might be a few of you who would like to chat with me about philosophy, so I’m inviting you to click the link and have a conversation.

This is a bold new experiment for me, PEL and our project. I’m interested to see if you who know me best feel like the AI captures both my point of view and tone of voice. My initial assessment is that it doesn’t quite talk like me but does have the spirit of what and how I think. I’d love to hear your feedback on that and your experience talking to it. It communicates via text and voice, though I haven’t extensively trained the latter yet.

I am super excited and grateful for any interaction with you, our listeners. For those interested, I used Claude Code to build a python pipeline to extract audio of Citizen episodes, feed them into Deepgram for transcription/speaker identification and then update the transcripts with speaker names to disambiguate me from the other guys and guests.

Sounds very interesting. I recently went to a talk by a friend I play tennis with who works in the music business and has created an AI young singer and he now makes more money from her You Tube channel than from his own, He demonstrated AI videos he had made of some of his tennis-playing friends doing unusual things on court which were both hilarious and scarily realistic.

This is really weird. I’m having a conversation with AI Seth about Marks next class and the insights that might be provided for it by the 1980s kids’ movie D.A.R.Y.L.

I feel like AI Seth has the same ‘personality’ as every other AI I’ve used, but it does have some cool PEL knowledge that it inserts into the dialogue.

I’m not sure what the telephone icon does though. I’m scared to press it in case it calls Real Intelligence Seth.

About The Partially Examined Life

The Partially Examined Life is a philosophy podcast by some guys who were at one point set on doing philosophy for a living but then thought better of it. Each episode, we pick a text and chat about it with some balance between insight and flippancy. You don’t have to know any philosophy, or even to have read the text we’re talking about to (mostly) follow and (hopefully) enjoy the discussion
