Product Description
Recorded 3/8/14 by Mark Linsenmayer with Stanley Martin and Shira Coffee as a follow-up to PEL ep. 88. While that episode discussed only one small part of that book, this 80 minute discussion treats the book more globally: what kind of explanation does the book claim to provide? Does it satisfy, and if not, is it because she fails to give a coherent theory or because what she’s trying to do is just inherently unsatisfying? We read a lot of passages aloud, so this is a pretty good listen if you don’t actually want to bother reading the book yourself but are curious to learn more about this sharp and insightful figure in the history of analytic philosophy.
Not School is a way for PEL Citizens to read a text collaboratively and talk about it on exclusive online forums and/or on recordings like this one. Warning: Unlike regular PEL episodes, these recordings are largely unedited and feature participants who may be new to philosophy and are using crummy microphones. You’ll get a good idea of what the reading is about, but we provide no other guarantees re. the quality of this discussion.
