A Lagging, Nagging Take on Her

September 5, 2014 by Jay Jeffers 6 Comments

Jay Jeffers just can’t shake his first impression of “Her,” a story set against the backdrop of artificial intelligence.

Modern Science Searches for the Self

November 28, 2010 by Daniel Horne 1 Comment

It reviews some of the latest developments in brain science to discover that the self might just be an illusion, a byproduct of the brain’s left hemisphere trying to construct a narrative of reality. It makes for compelling viewing, and those uninterested in Continue Reading …

An Analytic Philosopher Grapples with “Soul”

May 12, 2010 by Wes Alwan 2 Comments

About The Partially Examined Life

The Partially Examined Life is a philosophy podcast by some guys who were at one point set on doing philosophy for a living but then thought better of it. Each episode, we pick a text and chat about it with some balance between insight and flippancy. You don’t have to know any philosophy, or even to have read the text we’re talking about to (mostly) follow and (hopefully) enjoy the discussion
